Canvass
The official process after Election Day of verifying and counting every remaining valid ballot — mail ballots, provisionals, conditional registrations — before certifying the result.
In California the canvass runs for weeks by design. In L.A.'s June 2026 primary it ran from June 3 to certification on June 26.
